A bag of lenses or 1 Superzoom?

I'm often asked why I carry so many lenses rather than having a superzoom lense that stretches from say 18-300mm. There are several reasons really. The quality of the glass (and amount of glass) in a prime lense or more expensive smaller zoom range lense can be much better. The low aperture zooms such as my 24-70mm or 70-200mm lenses give more flexibility for depth of filed and available light into the camera. The aperture range itself on these two lenses is static for both at f2.8 rather than say at 3.5 - 6.3 for the 18-300mm superzooms. However, there is a lot to be said about carrying just one lense. I'll let you read on and have a look at these sites to make your own mind up. I'd be interested to know your thoughts....Mike
